One of the municipal libraryElche offers a complete network of both public and private teaching centres, which guarantee the education of the population at all levels. This means the schooling of 34,156 pupils (academic year 2004/2005) at a non-university level who are integrated in over 85 centres, 75% of which are publicly owned. Regulated professional training is also offered with specialised branches in the economic sectors of Elche and its surroundings. Special attention is paid to the training of people to cover the growing demand of emerging sectors such as advanced services and the hotel trade.
The city offers a varied formative infrastructure The level of specialization currently demanded in all working sectors requires preparation in human resources and an adequate training to be able to face new technological challenges. In this sense, the Technological Footwear Institute (INESCOP), the European Centre for Innovative Businesses (CEEI) and social partners have strongly opted for practical training of employees and businessmen by organizing a large number of courses, conferences and seminars. Elche City Council with its Municipal Training Centre and Municipal Computer Classes, as well as the Valencian autonomous government’s Training and Insertion Centre, give the unemployed and those with problems finding work the opportunity to gain qualifications.
Other important training resources are the Official School of Languages and the Professional Conservatory of Music.
