Futurelx strategic plan
The Futurelx strategic plan is a tool of reflection and proposal of ideas with the aim of making a model of the city in the medium and long term, with an integrationist vision of economic, social and territorial variables. It is a process of civic debate, in which the people of Elche are those who demonstrate how they want their city to be. This challenge implies the integration of public and private actions, guaranteeing the growth of Elche and its influence on areas of economic, social, and working progress and definitively, a higher quality of life.
The main aim of Futurelx is to attain a city which is more habitable, educational, united and showing solidarity Futurelx has become one of the city strategic plans with the most support from its citizens in the country. Currently it has to its advantage more than 250 companies assigned to its governing body, and a further 150 are participating in some manner in the project. Numerous individuals have also shown their interest in the plan right from the start.
The main aim of Futurelx is to make Elche into a more habitable, educational and cultured city, showing solidarity and being united on a social level to favour prosperity and an increase in the well-being and quality of life of the people of Elche. With a more diversified and qualified economic base, supported by sustainable development which will allow its citizens to find employment and be united as an important centre of regional economic growth.
Futurelx meetingThe strategic plan is to be carried out in two stages; the first, analysis and diagnosis of the city (the horizon up to which the city should extend), already completed, and the second, the carrying out and strategic control of actions.
To achieve the desired city model it has been necessary to develop a method which makes it possible to get to know the city in detail and which counts on the participation of all the powers that be who manage it both in public and private spheres. To do this, eight work commissions were formed, each of which was in charge of analysing a specific subject, as well as being consulted on the elaboration of the twelve action plans of Futurelx.
Futurelx bases itself on citizen participationThe plans of action, which have already been elaborated and are in the analysis and result control phase, are based on three projects: one economic, another social and a third based on territory. The economic project is in charge of contributing to and achieving diversification in Elche’s economy through four plans of action (agicultural, commercial, industrial and services for businesses, and tourism). The plan is that the social project should give rise to and achieve human development and a higher quality of life for the people of Elche by means of cultural, sporting, educational and social plans of action, and development cooperation. Finally, the provincial project, based on promoting and achieving the sustainable urban development of Elche, is focused on another four plans of action: infrastructures, environmental, improvement of urban landscape and town-planning.
