Map of the province Elche, capital of the administrative division Baix Vinalopó, in the south of the province of Alicante, has a municipal area of 326km2, shared between the built-up area of the city and the so-called Camp d’Elx, which is comprised of 30 towns and their corresponding districts. This, along with Alicante (20km away), Murcia (50km away) and other important population nuclei in the surrounding area, makes up the southern axis of the Spanish Mediterranean Arch. On a provincial scale Elche provides the backbone of the Vinalopó Valley and the coastal arch.
Elche boasts an excellent road network, first class air links with an airport five minutes away, railway links and a nearby seaport, which allow for the free flow of passengers and the transportation of merchandise to any part of the world.
